Several of our local gardeners open their yards to visitors who may stroll and see the fruits of their hard work. The Colonies are blessed to have so many talented gardeners that are dedicated to their hobby. Twice each growing season we select the best yards and gardens and these private individuals open them up for you to see.
This event is free and you will fill an entire day traveling through the Amana Colonies to the selected homes. Each one is different and unique. Some are tended by master gardeners and others by residents that just love their garden. You’ll see flowers and green plants along with vegetable gardens. Some rare plants, beautiful displays of color and get tips on how these masters grow their favorites.
There are two dates, one in June that features the early blooming flowers and one in July for the later varieties. If you are lucky enough to come for both you will see the change throughout the season. The dates for 2019 are June 22nd and July 27th. Maps of the homes/yards are available at the Amana Colonies Visitor Center so make sure to stop by for a map and directions.
