West Amana Blacksmith Shop – Open House
The Amana Arts Guild invites the public to step inside one of the Amana Colonies’ most historic working spaces during a special Blacksmith Shop Open House on September 4–5, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The shop is located between 703 and 705 7th Ave.
West Amana, IA 52203
The shop is the last fully functional blacksmith shop in the Amana Colonies, offering visitors a rare opportunity to experience a working piece of history. Visitors will meet blacksmith Cory Nevitt, watch live demonstrations, ask questions, and learn about the traditional craft of blacksmithing. Cory will also share insight into the history of the shop, its role in the Amana community, and what the future may hold for this remarkable piece of local heritage.
