Free

Amana History Symposium – Two Sundays, March 16 and March 23 at 2:00 pm, lasting approximately 1.5 hours. Held at the Amana Church in the village of Amana, 1/2 block west of the Amana Visitors Center. Presentations include slides, graphics, and a Q & A session. Two talks each Sunday. Everyone is welcome as local historians discuss Christian Metz’s life and his leadership of the Inspirationists community that became Amana: How and, why, was Amana built? What ideas made it happen?  Maps and map making of the new Eben-ezer colonies and the seven villages of Amana – what impact did these maps have on community conception and perceptions; Oath-taking: how the Inspirationists navigated the political and ethical questions of their day while holding certain views on the taking of oaths.
