Colonies in Bloom – Hunt for the Hidden Gems
Saturday June 3rd, 2023 from 10am – 4pm
A new twist on a favorite Amana Colonies Event. This year our June date will feature all the hidden gems in the villages of Homestead, High Amana, Middle Amana, South Amana, & West Amana. Visit shops and private gardens off the beaten path to discover your favorite Amana Colonies Hidden Gem. Each stop will feature a garden and/or gardening-related items.
We will also be having a hunt for “Hidden Gems.” Be the first to find one of the rocks with the gemstone painted on it and return the rock to the Visitor Center to win a special prize. A “gem” will be hidden at each location.
Colonies in Bloom Garden Tours
Saturday, July 22, 2023 from 10am – 4pm
Several of our local gardeners open their yards to visitors who may stroll and see the fruits of their hard work! The Colonies are blessed to have so many talented gardeners that are dedicated to their hobby. Twice each growing season we select the best yards and gardens and these private individuals open them up for you to see.
This event is free and you will fill an entire day traveling through the Amana Colonies to the selected homes. Each one is different and unique. Some are tended by master gardeners and others by residents that just love their garden. You’ll see flowers and green plants along with vegetable gardens. Some rare plants, beautiful displays of color, and get tips on how these masters grow their favorites.
There will be a number of gardens on this self-guided garden tour through the Amana Colonies! We will have printed maps with locations and garden descriptions to help you find each garden and to provide some information about the event, each garden, and our Garden Party which follows the garden tour.
Colonies in Bloom Garden Party

Join us for the third annual Colonies in Bloom Garden Party! In partnership with the Amana Heritage Society, we would like to invite you for drinks, dinner, live music, and yard games at the Amana Heritage Museum.
Admission to this event is free!
