Our very first “Autumn in the Amanas”
For the first time ever, we are proud to present 8 themed weekends that we call “Autumn in the Amanas”. It’s a series of small weekend events that will allow us to socially distance and have a little fun. These events will begin on September 19th with Apfelfest and go through November 8th for Girls Getaway Weekend.
Here is the line-up for 2020’s Autumn in the Amanas
September 19th: Apfelfest (September 20, Fall Volksmarch)
A celebration of apples! On September 19th we will have fresh apples available from Allen’s Orchard of Marion, and businesses in town will have specials and treats all day! A few events and activities will be taking place over the weekend, like a Vintner’s Dinner, a sampling stroll, and the Fall Volksmarch.
September 26-27: A Taste of the Colonies
Just as it sounds, this will be a weekend where we offer specials and activities for the great food and drink we have to offer! There will be a Sampling Stroll on Saturday along with other food and drink specials available. On Sunday, we will have a “Wine, Chocolate, and Beer Walk” to replace the one canceled when Maifest was canceled in May.
October 3-4: A Touch of Germany
On A Touch of Germany Weekend, you’ll find food, music, and atmosphere to make you feel as if you’re in Bavaria! To kick off the weekend, we will have a Lederhosen and Dirndl Parade on Saturday at 10am during which we encourage participants and spectators to wear their German garb. We’ll have a strolling accordionist playing throughout town on both Saturday and Sunday, and we’ll have special German foods for you to feast on.
October 10-11: Leaf us Alone! A Weekend Full of Outdoor Fun
We may have missed Tour de Brew this summer, but Millstream Brewery will be hosting this ride on Saturday, October 10th! In addition to Tour de Brew, we will fill the weekend with outdoor activities and make sure you have plenty of space to walk, bike, and hike while you enjoy the changing leaves and crisp fall breeze. We will have activities for Saturday and Sunday and some unique picnic specials for each day, and you won’t want to miss out!
October 17-18: Arts and Antiques in the Amana Colonies
Just as it sounds, we will be focusing on our unique arts and antiques on October 17th and 18th! There will be an Amana Arts Guild Popup Art Mart at the Amana Heritage Museum in Amana on Saturday, and activities and specials throughout our art and antique shops all weekend.
October 24-25: Pumpkinfest
Like Apfelfest but with Pumpkins! There will be pumpkins and pumpkin treats all through town and fun for the whole family. You’ll find specials and treats in our shops and you can participate in a pumpkin carving and decorating competitions. You’ll also be able to participate in a pumpkin scavenger hunt on Saturday and Sunday to be entered to win an Amana Colonies Gift Certificate!
October 31 – November 1: Halloweekend
We want to see as many costumes as we can on Halloweekend this year! We’ll have spooky specials, haunted happenings, and other Halloween fun all weekend long. On Saturday afternoon we will have a costume parade through town to show off what we’ve got! You’ll find sweet treats and unique activities throughout the Amana Colonies.
November 6-8: Girls Getaway Weekend
This weekend will be full of fun for your favorite group of ladies! Get your friends together for a weekend full of samples, shopping, and entertainment. The guys are welcome too.
